James Sweeney, age 94, of Havertown, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 29th. He was born in Philadelphia on October 22, 1924 to the late Michael J. and Isabella (nee McLaughlin) Sweeney.
Jim Sweeney was a proud member of I.A.T.S.E. Local #8 and worked for the Philadelphia Orchestra as assistant Stage Manager for 34 years.
He was a Navy veteran of W.W.II and served on the U.S.S. Hancock.
He also served as President of the Hancock Association.
Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Martha C. Sweeney (nee Wydila). His children Michael (Maureen), Patricia Atkinson (Henry) , James Jr., Robert and Susan Marino (Jerry).
Grandchildren Erin Rossell, Sean Sweeney, Meaghan Keenan, Rachael McClure, Michael Atkinson, Leah Atkinson, James Sweeney III, Maeve Sweeney, Patrick Sweeney, Tyler Sweeney, Shannon Sweeney, Matthew Marino, and Hannah Marino. Great-grandchildren Rylan Sweeney, Madison Keenan, Logan Keenan, and Harrison McClure. He was pre-deceased by his sister Peggy Lobb.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Wednesday December 5th from 9:30 AM to 10:50 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
