James Louis Woodward II, age 92, of Paoli formerly of Havertown, Pa. passed away on July 6, 2023. Jim was born and raised in the Manoa section of Havertown. He was a graduate of West Catholic High School. He attended La Salle University and graduated with a BS in Math and Physics. On weekends he worked at Manoa Beverage as a deliveryman. For over 45 years he was the Director of Claim Prevention for the Reading/Conrail Railroads. Once retired he drove a school bus and was a Driver/Sales Representative for O’Reilly Buick-GMC. He enjoyed spending summers at his home on the Sassafras River in Maryland. Jim was an avid woodworker creating decorative art. His other hobbies included spending time in Atlantic City Casino’s and playing in poker tournaments. He liked going to Delaware Park and once even owned a thoroughbred.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. (nee Gallagher) Woodward, loving father of Elizabeth “Betty” Woodward Smith (the late Kenneth), Michael Woodward (Kathy), Patrick Woodward (Susan) and the late James L. Woodward III, adoring grandchildren Sharon Wilson (Trip), Stephanie Taylor (Travis), Alexi Woodward (Sierra) and the late James Louis Woodward IV, Susan Bennett, William J. Bennett (Michele) Danielle Scafidi (Mike), Morgan Giannone (Justin), Connor Woodward (Kait), Mary Beth Woodward, Emily Urbanik (Jeffrey) Patrick Woodward (Megan), Katie White (Brandon) in addition Jim has 16 Great Grandchildren. He is survived by his loving companion Marilyn Goldman. His brother-in law Dick Bayer and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his siblings Mary Woodward and Joan Bauer.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Norbert’s Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli Pa. 19031, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, Ny. 10306 would be appreciated.
