Jane C. Doughty (nee Torchiana), age 88, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on June 9, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Jane Torchiana (nee Bustard).
Jane was a long-time resident of Narberth, PA where she attended St. Margaret's School. She was a 1946 graduate of Lower Merion High School. She continued her education at Philadelphia General Hospital to become a Radiology Technician. Her first job as a Radiology Technician was at Phoenixville Hospital, she later worked at Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1954, she married Luke Joseph Doughty of Yeadon, PA and shortly thereafter moved to Drexel Hill, PA to start a family. Jane was a kind, loving person, who was devoted to her family. Jane was an expert knitter, a gift she shared with many, from Christmas stockings to hats for newborn babies. She loved to read and enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching the Phillies! Her unfailing love and support, and her inspiring strength will be greatly missed, but all the fond memories of time spent with her will be remembered forever.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Luke Joseph Doughty, her loving children Mary McGlynn (Charles), James (Beverly), Michael (Mary), Ann Lang (Steve) and William Doughty (Cassandra). Also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and her brothers John (Hope) and William Torchiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday, June 15, 2016 9:30-10:20 AM St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
