Jason Petyk
April 29, 1972 — June 7, 2014
Jason Petyk, age 42, passed away on June 7, 2014. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Villanova, Jason was educated through the Radnor School System and graduated high school in 1990 as a member of the National Honor's Society. He was also an excellent soccer player setting various records in outdoor and indoor leagues and was the first freshman in Radnor's history to make the Varsity soccer team.
Jason attended Cornell University majoring in natural resources and minoring in ornithology, graduating in 1994. He played piano in multiple jazz bands, and enjoyed hiking the gorges of the Finger Lakes region. After graduating college, Jason spent many years on the west coast participating in various Wildlife research projects. He is published in the Wilson Bulletin-"Predation of a Golden-Cheeked Warbler Nest by a Scrub-Jay". Jason was an employee of Vanguard as a client service representative for three years. He also had an interest in real estate management.
In addition to his ornithological and music passions, Jason enjoyed backpacking in various national parks, web design, copy-editing, and tutoring English as a second language. Jason's witty sense of humor was a force to be reckoned with and his compassion for humanity was an ever present aspect of his personality. He will be missed by the many lives he's touched. We love you Jay and you will forever be in our hearts!
Jason is survived by his parents Carol Gabriella and M. Andrew (Jackie) Petyk. Maternal grandmother Rita Gabriella, his sister Natalie Petyk (Tyrone Barnes), his nephew Nathan Petyk-Barnes, his aunt Joan Bowen (Joe), his uncle Roman Petyk (Katrya Oransky-Petyk) and his cousins Dana DeSilvo (Dan), Nicholas Bowen and Alexandra Petyk.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family, Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 9:00-10:20 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 South Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
