Jay Gruener

Jay L. Gruener, 100, of Wayne, PA passed away on February 16, 2022.

Born in Pittsburgh in 1921, he was the son of the late Oscar and Louise (née Lowry) Gruener.

Jay served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a Superintendent in the Norristown area schools. Jay had a passion for reading about history, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and anything involved with education. He was interested in politics, enjoyed stamp collecting and loved traveling in the Western United States, particularly Arizona.

Jay was the beloved husband, for 68 years, of the late Elaine (née Sultzbach) Gruener; loving father of Susan E. Ritter and Mark Gruener (Teresa); and dear grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister, Louise Hildabrandt.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service 12:00 Noon Monday, February 21, 2022 at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
