Jean McBride

April 27, 1941 — April 1, 2015

Jean B. McBride (nee Bird), 74, of East Goshen passed away on April 1, 2015 at her home.



Born in West Chester, PA and raised in Willistown, Jeanie was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Miles) Bird.



Jean was the beloved wife of James J. McBride, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; the loving mother of James III (Diane); loving grandmother of three grandchildren; and dear sister of Barbara (Ben) Ristine of Vineland, NJ.



She was a 1959 graduate of Conestoga High School in Berwyn, PA and Immaculata University, with an Associate's Degree. She worked for Glennon's Milk Service, Fronfield & DeFuria and Intervention Associates as a Financial Bookkeeper.



Jeanie was a lifelong member of the Goshen Fire Company and fair. When she retired, she devoted many hours of her time to the West Chester Area Senior Center. She had her own personal Bookkeeping Service for Seniors, volunteered for the Philadelphia Zoobilee Fundraiser and was a Democratic Minority Inspector for the polls in East Goshen Fire House Precinct for many years.



She enjoyed many years of travel to the mountains of PA and the Jersey Shore, Florida, Ireland and Scotland. The highlight of her life was as a guest of The Bishop Noel Trainor of Belfast, County Down and Connor of Northern Ireland.



Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 10:00-11:20 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 and to her Funeral Mass 11:30 a.m. at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.



Jean's family wishes to thank Jennifer Moyer Wash and Rebekah DeSimone, both nurses with the Neighborhood Healthcare of Chester County for their devoted care extended to Jeanie.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Chester Area Senior Center, 530 E Union St, West Chester, PA 19382 or to the Goshen Fire Company, 1320 Park Ave, West Chester, PA 19380.
