Jeanne M. Kane, 92 years of age, died peacefully in her sleep on March, 15, 2014 with family at her bedside. She is survived by six children, fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband Robert predeceased Jeanne in 2010.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Joseph and Isabel Connolly, Jeanne attended Meyers High School and went on to graduate from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. She graduated in 1943 with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and was employed by Catholic Social Services as a Social Worker in Hazelton, PA.
In 1946, Jeanne married her sweetheart Bob when he returned after serving three years overseas during WWII. They moved to Upper Darby in 1953 and they resided in Delaware County until their deaths. Jeanne began a teaching career at Saint Laurence parochial school and taught for almost thirty years until her retirement. She loved to teach and found great joy in encouraging young students. During her lifetime, many prior students would approach Jeanne's daughters and sons and share warm stories of how Mrs. Kane was a kind teacher and had provided inspiration.
Jeanne and Bob traveled extensively abroad and one of their favorite destinations was to their ancestral home, Ireland. Jeanne was also an accomplished seamstress and would enjoy cutting patterns and creating designs from curtains to formal gowns.
Jeanne is survived by her children Maureen (William) Ritchie of Kennett Square, Denise (William) Buck of Oaks, John (Janice) Kane of Phoenixville, Michelle Kane of Kennett Square, Robert (Denise) Kane of Villanova, and Eileen Kane of Drexel Hill. Jeanne will be missed, but there is consolation in knowing she is reunited once more with her loving husband, Bob.
