Jeannette Flynn

January 4, 1927 — April 25, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Jeannette Mary Flynn (nee Worthington) announces her passing on April 25, 2020 at the age 93 years. Born on January 4, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, to the late, John and Mary (nee Kostic) Worthington. Jeannette was the devoted wife of the late, John J. Flynn. She lived in Wayne, PA for most of her adult life.

She is survived by her children Barbara, Michael, Timothy (Annette) and Daniel (Sheila); her grandchildren Kristen, Ryan, Michael, Samantha, Courtney, Shane, Jack, Brenna, Erin and Megan; and her great grandchildren Haylie, Shelby and Trey.

Jeannette was the dear sister of the late Chuck, Jack and Edward Worthington. Two daughters, Janice and Kathleen, preceded her in death.

Jeannette was loved by many. She had an easy going, sweet demeanor and a laugh that was contagious. She was also known as Jean, Jeannie, Bunny and most lovingly and notably, Nanny. She was very religious and was very active in the Catholic Church. She attended Mass every day, taught CCD, and founded and ran the first prayer group at Saint Isaac Jogues in Wayne, PA.

Early in her career, she worked for the FBI for several years. More recently, she helped to establish Allied Wire & Cable, a family run company which had its roots in her basement, and became a very successful company.

A Catholic Mass and Burial will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020. Unfortunately, due to the Corona Virus, the Viewing, Mass and Burial are only open to the immediate family. Plans for a Celebration of Life for her will be in the future, with all her friends, relatives and loved ones, when the appropriate time comes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeannette’s honor to Catholic Charities 100 N. 20th Street, Suite 301, Philadelphia, PA 19103
