Jeffrey P. McKinney, known to many as "Jeff," passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 72nd birthday.
Born in Butler, PA, he was the son of the late Wesley and Alice Ann (Garber) McKinney.
A long-time resident of Delaware County, Jeff left an indelible mark on both the community and the hearts of those who knew him.
As the heart and soul of “Old Original Nick’s Roast Beef” Jeff built more than a successful business; he created a welcoming place where people felt like family. His presence will be deeply missed.
Beyond the bustling life of restaurant ownership, Jeff nurtured a hidden talent as a skilled woodworker, a craft he embraced during his youth. Those who witnessed his craftsmanship could attest to the beauty and precision of his work, a testament to his creativity and dedication. He also had a profound love for classic rock and roll music which was a defining part of his personality. He could often be found playing the air guitar, bringing laughter and light to gatherings with his playful spirit. In addition to his musical passions, Jeff treasured traveling with his family, grounding him in moments of happiness as he traveled with those he loved most.
Jeff had a great love for fishing too and took great pride in being out on the water as the captain of his boat, creating cherished memories with family and friends. He was often found navigating the serene waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Sassafras River, where he could truly indulge his love for nature and the outdoors.
Jeff was the devoted husband sharing 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marylis “Lili” (Rollain) McKinney. He was the loving father of Patrick McKinney (Jenn) and Megan Rose (Brian), and the proud and caring grandfather (Pop Pop) of Maren Jolene, Maximus Wolf, and Ziggy Pearl. Jeff is also survived by his 5 siblings, Steven McKinney (Sherry), Leslie Norko (Alex), Bill McKinney (Jan), John McKinney, (Sheila), and Patrick McKinney (Jessica).
