Berwyn

Jeffrey Mark Wymard passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 24, 2025.

He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on May 29, 1959, to Patricia Gleason Hamilton and Jack Wymard.

From an early age, and as the eldest of his four siblings, Jeff took great pride in his role as a family man even before he was married and had children of his own. From helping at the family business to heading home once a week during college to check on his grandmother, he cared deeply and made those closest to him a pillar of his life.

A lifelong learner, Jeff graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Accounting from Waynesburg College. Through his leadership roles with the Alpha Kappa Si Professional Business Fraternity and campus Young Republicans, he passed on his love of learning and was a mentor to his younger peers, which continued throughout his professional life. Jeff continued to give back to his alma mater, serving on the Board of Trustees as one of the youngest members elected and was involved for nearly 20 years. During his tenure as Chairman of the Board, Jeff led several capital campaigns and construction projects, resulting in unparalleled growth of enrollment, campus facilities, and the endowment. Beyond Waynesburg, he received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Thereafter, he embarked on a 30+ year career as a Healthcare Finance investment banker at Prudential, Wells Fargo, and PNC before retiring in 2019.

Throughout his life, Jeff mastered many sports with his competitive edge, but at the end of the day, he worked to ensure everyone had fun and a few laughs. He carried this into adulthood as he coached his daughters’ sports teams and taught them how to ski and play tennis. Always the life of the party, he made everyone feel welcome and at home with his tremendous sense of humor and preternatural ability to make others laugh, which left a lasting impression on many. Without fail, he always had a camera handy to capture the moments and the memories - even when a professional photographer was present and snapping away.

Beyond the fun he brought into the world, Jeff will be missed for his generosity of spirit. He always saw the best in others, was quick to offer a helping hand, and seldom asked for anything in return. He valued the feelings of others, strove to be fair and honest in all his endeavors, and sought to maintain the highest integrity and character.

Jeff will be most remembered for the love and support he brought to his family who were so dear to him. He met his wife Karen in high school and embarked on the adventure of life together, moving lockstep with deep affection for one another and a resolute friendship over more than 40 years of marriage and nearly 50 years together. Criss-crossing from Pittsburgh to New York to North Carolina, they finally settled in Radnor where they raised their two daughters. From teaching Kate to drive, to building spooky graveyards with Anne for their annual Halloween parties, to riding bikes at the Jersey shore with Karen, to vacations near and far with all three of them, it was always apparent how much he loved his ladies and how deeply he cared about them. No squash match was too far to attend, no dream too big to chase, and he was always there to offer love and support, which was reinforced by his calm demeanor and reassuring nature. His love for his family grew with the addition of his sons-in-law, Kyle and Chris, and most recently his grandsons, John and Mark, with whom he never missed an opportunity to spend time. It didn’t matter if they were out-and-about or at home, Jeff was happiest when the entire family was together.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughter Kate and her husband Kyle Whiteman, daughter Anne and her husband Chris Finnegan, and grandsons John and Mark Whiteman; his sister Mary Lynn (Lee) England, brother David (Jackie) Wymard, and sister Jackie Stead (Jack). He was predeceased by his mother Patricia Gleason Hamilton and father Jack Wymard; his grandparents Harold S. Gleason and Mary K. (Kamensky) Gleason; his great-grandparents Louis Kamensky and Kathryn (Kashary) Kamensky.
