Joan B. Clark of West Chester, PA, passed away on February 16, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Clarence and Dorothy (nee Stevenson) Burt.
Joan was an avid skier in her youth. During the early years of her marriage she and her late husband, Steve, enjoyed their summer home on the beaches of New Jersey where she enjoyed sailing and spending time on the beach with her daughters.
Joan loved gardening and was a member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Hardy Plant Society and the Delaware Valley Daylily Society.
She received a Certificate of Completion of the three year Barnes Foundation Woody Plant Program.
Her extensive gardens featuring flowering trees and over 300 varieties of daylilies were included in a tour of gardens of the area hosted by for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Joan brought her love of gardening west to her summer home in the Black Hills of South Dakota where she enjoyed spending time with her family.
For over 40 years Joan was a devoted member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Berwyn, PA where she served as Second Reader, Reading Room Librarian, Clerk and many other church positions. She made many life long friends within this church community.
During the summer she attended and volunteered for the Christian Science Church in Rapid City, SD.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Irvin Stevenson Clark; loving mother of Melanie (Mac) Kirkpatrick of Glenmoore, PA and Virginia (Greg Nepstad) Clark of Rapid City, SD; caring grandmother of Clark, Julia and Mica; dear sister of Virginia (Jack) Burnett of Stuart, FL.
Services are private.
