Joan Farrell

Joan A. Farrell (nee Ahearn), age 85, of Havertown, PA, passed away on August 16, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Elizabeth G. Ahearn (nee Murphy).

Joan was born and raised in West Philadelphia in Transfiguration Parish and graduated from West Catholic High for Girls in 1951. Joan married Martin Farrell in August of 1955 and moved to Havertown in 1963 where they raised their seven children in Sacred Heart Parish. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending little league baseball, basketball, field hockey, football and lacrosse games. Joan loved attending events for her children and grandchildren and was always a positive fixture throughout the moments in her family's life. The moments that stood out the most to her were watching her 15 grandchildren grow and enjoy their successes. Before Marty's passing in June of 2011 they loved to travel and especially enjoyed a tour of Ireland and various cruises.

Joan was a caring and devoted neighbor and friend who gave countless hours to help others in need.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin J. Farrell and her daughter, Patricia Farrell-Kerelo.

She is survived by her loving children Martin J. Farrell, Jr. (Rosemary), Daniel J. Farrell (Michele), Thomas P. Farrell (Ann), Joseph P. Farrell (Denise), Kathleen Leyden (the late Michael) and William B. Farrell, her 15 grandchildren, and her brother, Daniel Ahearn (Lorraine).

Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
