Joan Margaret Flynn (née Sullivan), age 91, of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully at Bryn Mawr Hospital on Sunday, July 14, 2024, after a brief illness.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Sarah “Sally” (née Mullaney) Sullivan.
Her role as a loving wife of Patrick Flynn for more than 50 years, mother, grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend defined her essence, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her beloved family.
Joan was a dedicated Medical Receptionist known for her warm personality, who touched the lives of many patients with her compassion and empathy.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joan found joy in simple pleasures. Her passion for gardening and hummingbirds was evident to all who visited her home. She created a haven of beauty and tranquility, reflecting her nurturing spirit and appreciation for the wonders of nature. In addition to her love of family and nature, Joan was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan who rarely missed a game.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Patrick Thomas Flynn; the loving mother of Patrick Flynn and Eileen Miley (Barry). She was the devoted grandmother of Francisco Miley (Jacqueline), Patrick Flynn (Patrice), Grace Royce (Tyler), Lauren Miley, Matthew Miley, and Jaclyn Miley. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Glenn (the late Gerry), and her brother, Eugene Sullivan (Mary Ellen), and predeceased by her siblings, Katherine Galli (Edmund) and Neil “Bud” Sullivan.
Friends and loved ones are invited to her Viewing, Monday, July 22, 2024, 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA, and to her Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM. Interment ceremony will immediately follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory would be appreciated to Annunciation BVM Church, at the address mentioned above.
