Joan M. Hight

Joan M. Hight (nee Sunday), age 80, of Havertown, PA, formerly of Bridgeport, PA, passed away on January 28, 2025. Born in Drexel Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose Sunday (nee Rath).

Joan was a beloved teacher in a number of parochial schools across the ArchDioceses of Philadelphia, but it was her 31 years at Merion Mercy Academy that cemented her legend as a beloved and devoted teacher of English. Joan shaped the lives of thousands of students throughout her career both as Sister Joan Christi IHM and as Mrs. Hight 

Joan is survived by her loving husband George, her caring sister Ann Masterangelo wife of the late Dr. Michael Mastrangelo and brother of Jim Sunday (husband of Peggy). 

Family and friends are invited to Joan’s Viewing 9:30-11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at St. Bernadette of our Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
