Joan Quigley Monnig, 86, of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away on February 24, 2024, at Arbor Terrace Willistown in West Chester, PA.
She is survived by her children, Justin Monnig, Danielle Clark, husband Michael Clark, and her grandchildren Savannah, Hayden, Ryan, Keegan and Colin and her sisters, Irene McCarter, and Patricia Sheehy. She was predeceased by her sister, Diane Keegan.
Joan was born in New York, N.Y., to the late George and Rose Flimlin Quigley. Joan attended high school at Marymount Academy in New York and then attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. While at Marymount College, she spent her junior year studying at Marymount, Surrey, England, and at Kingstown College and Queen Mary College, London. After college and years working as a religious in the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary Order in Barcelona, Spain and in New York City, Joan received her PhD in Education and School Counseling from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Joan had a long and distinguished career as a graduate school professor at Villanova University. Year after year, she delighted in teaching and mentoring her students.
Joan enjoyed a wide circle of friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, travel, golf, and her summers on Long Beach Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY 10532 on Tuesday, March 5, at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Joan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.act.alz.org.
