Joanne M. Kerridge (nee Mann), age 90, of Lafayette Hill, PA, formerly of Milton, DE and Richboro, PA, passed away on June 18, 2023. Born in Camden, NJ, she was the devoted daughter of the late Lawrence and Beatrice Mann (nee McCollum).
Joanne loved her family, sports, and spending time at the beach. She grew up in Collingswood, NJ and was a member of the class of 1950 at Collingswood High School where she was a majorette and played varsity sports. She attended Temple University graduating in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in education. During college, Joanne was employed in the payroll department of Gimbels, Center City Philadelphia. Upon graduation she took a position as a Health & Physical Education teacher at the same Junior High she attended as a child. In addition to her teaching duties, Joanne coached the girls field hockey & basketball teams and established the school’s cheerleading squad. Joanne spent her free time playing golf and bowling.
She enjoyed spending summers at her family’s Ocean City, NJ cottage. Joanne met her husband Charles in Ocean City. Over the years, the town was a frequent destination for vacations and visits with family.
Joanne and Charles married and moved Bucks County Pennsylvania where they would raise their two daughters. Joanne was a stay-at-home Mom while her girls were young providing her the time to volunteer with the PTA and support them in their various hobbies, activities. When the girls were older, she took a job at the Bucks County IU working with disabled students. After retirement, she and her husband moved to the DE beach. Eight years ago, Joanne moved to Masonic Village in Lafayette Hill, PA to be closer to her family.
Throughout her life, Joanne was active in many community, school, and neighborhood organizations where she often held a leadership role or served as a board officer. She was active in the Council Rock Band Parents Association, Overbrook Shores HOA, and the Masonic Village Residents Association. She volunteered with the Special Olympics and supported the U.S. Olympic committee and various Veteran organizations. Joanne liked doing word search puzzles and watching the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers. At Masonic, she made many new friends and enjoyed the various activities, especially learning to play pool. Joanne was a fiercely proud Grandmom, so her favorite pastime was spending time with Dillon & Kylie. She loved cheering them on at their sporting events and was their biggest fan on and off the playing field.
Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Kerridge; loving mother of Beatrice Kerridge and Jane Kane (John); and adoring grandmother of Dillon and Kylie. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews. Joanne was predeceased by her siblings, Marion Villalobos (the late Al) and Ruth Schooley (the late Charles).
