Joanne A. Welsh (née Fischer), age 65, of Broomall, PA, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emil “Dick” and Kathryn (née Egan) Fischer.
Joanne was a graduate of the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing. She was a natural caregiver who had a way of making others feel welcomed, cherished, and loved. She was a devout Catholic, dedicated spouse, caring mother, loving friend, and treasured grandmother – better known as “Gammy.” Of all titles, she was known to say that Gammy was her favorite. Joanne always had a cup of tea in her hand and lived her life surrounded by laughter.
Joanne was the beloved wife of James Welsh; the loving mother of Kate Costa (Chris), Jim Welsh, and Melissa Shindledecker (Jason). She was the cherished grandmother of Kayla, Brandon, James, Emma, Abigail, Landon, and Lucas. She is also survived by her brother, John Wenger, and her cousins, Mary Everlof and Joe Culbertson.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Thursday evening, January 27, 2022, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300, and on Friday morning, January 28, 2022, 9:30 – 10:15 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM.
