Joanne Werts

Dr. Joanne M. Werts, age 68, of Havertown, PA, passed away on September 30, 2019.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret M. Werts (nee Mayer).

Dr. Werts was employed as a Science Teacher at Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill for many years where she taught Chemistry and various AP Science Courses.

She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening and spending time with her family.  She was a member and volunteer at the Dog Training Center of Chester County.  She also volunteered for the Alzheimer’s Walk and Cancer Walk at Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School.

Dr. Werts is survived by her loving siblings Francis Werts (Linda), Cynthia McGuire (Joseph), William Werts (Marie) and Mary Russell (George).  She was a doting aunt and great-aunt to 13 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her beloved dog, Tycho.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, October 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to her Funeral Mass Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Bernadette Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA.   Interment will be private.
