John M Adams 1951-2015
John Megan Adams, age 64, of Thornton and previously of Newtown Square, PA passed away on August 26 surrounded by his loving family and friends. The beloved son of Eleanore (Muff) and James W. Adams, John was married to Christa (nee Meiswinkle), his loving wife of almost 39 years and was the proud father and best buddy of his sons, John, Jr. (Jenny) and Christopher.
John was a 1969 graduate of Monsignor Bonner and attended Mt. St Mary and St. Joe's. His greatest satisfaction came when building, repairing things and designing home enhancements and he became a master carpenter and successful contractor. But he will be most remembered for how he touched other people's lives. His gentle, kind and selfless nature and actions extended to his friends, family and every person he met.
John lived life to the fullest. He gave back to the community by coaching Little League for 25 years and was involved in scouting in his youth and as a leader. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and was present for 2 Flyers Stanley Cup and Phillies World Series championships. After building a vacation home in the Poconos, he relaxed playing golf and sitting in the circle amongst his best friends on the beach. He and Christa have hosted many parties for family and friends over the years.
He is survived by his sisters Lynn Jones, Megan (Noreen) Adams, Kay Devlin and brothers James (Gail), Peter (Patricia), Lloyd (Helen) and Robert (Celie) Adams, his mother and father-in law, Robert and Felice Meiswinkle and his brothers and sisters-in-laws David, Robert, Mark (Christine), Kevin, Susanne (John) Dalton, and Karen Young and his closest and loving friends, Joe, Eileen, Christian and Lisa. John's nickname was "Dog" and "Apple." He will be missed by his 34 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews, and by his many, many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382 (610) 431-9000 and to his Funeral Mass Monday 10:30 AM. at St. Maximilian Kolbe 15 E Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA 19382 (610) 399-6936.
