John L. DeMarco Sr., age 91, of Glenolden, PA and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2014.
Born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late Medoro and Mary DeMarco (nee Corrolo).
Beloved husband of the late Frances "Fran" DeMarco (nee Ursino); Loving father of John L. Demarco, Jr. (Nancy), Diana Tallarida (Dean) and Jennifer DeMarco (Denise); Dear grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
John served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, European Theater of World War II. He was the recipient of the Silver Star with Valor and the Bronze Star with Valor; two Purple Hearts. He was the first American solider to land in Rome, Italy.
John loved baseball, spaghetti and spending summers with his family in Wildwood, NJ, where he and his wife were the owners of the Elwood Apartments for over 35 years. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife Fran.
