Broomall, PA

John M. “Jack” Flynn, Jr., age 91, of Broomall, PA sadly passed away on January 12, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Carmella (née Marco) Flynn. After marrying his lovely bride, Jack and his wife Maureen moved to Ridley Park, PA where they lived for thirty-six years where they proudly raised their large, tight knit family.

Jack graduated from Malvern Prep and Villanova University. After working many jobs through his younger years such as a medical equipment delivery, ushering for the Warner Brothers theaters, and US mail carrier he went on to become a highly distinguished vice president in the manufacturing industry working for Continental Can, Hollingshead and then Ellisco Inc. Meyers Division. He was a dedicated and loyal man who took immense pride in his work who was highly regarded by those that worked with and for him. After retirement, Jack was recruited by the Franciscans and volunteered as the Lead Facilitator for the New Beginnings Foundation at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington, Delaware mentoring young incarcerated individuals.

Jack, a prodigious storyteller, had a quick wit and gregarious personality who charmed all who met him, and his stories entertained friends and family, both young and old.

His words of wisdom, his pragmatic and sound advice will continue to shape the decisions of those fortunate enough to have received them and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were so fortunate to have had so much time with him.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Maureen C. (née Mullen) Flynn; the loving father of John M. Flynn, III (Beth DiLullo), Michael F. Flynn (Joan Baksi), Eileen M. Monroe (Joseph), Dennis P. Flynn (Patricia Buscaglia), Matthew J. Flynn (Claudia DiFelice), and Patricia M. Henry (Michael). He was the proud grandfather of 20 and caring great-grandfather of 16. Jack is survived by his siblings, Kevin D. Flynn (Ilona Hyde) and Carmel D. (“Dru”) Powers (the late James), as well as his many nieces and nephews. Jack is predeceased by his siblings, Jo-An M. Chaconas (the late Constantine “Chick”), Kathleen A. McCullen (the late Michael), and Brian M. Flynn.
