John Gairo

Gairo, John P., 85, of Stuart, FL, and West Chester, PA on August 3, 2015.



Born in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA.



Husband of the late Rose Marie (nee Anicola) for 47 years; devoted father of the late Michael Snow, Sr.; and loving brother of the late Diane Wiedman.



Mr. Gairo is survived by Carol S. Jenkins, his loving friend and companion of many years; Eileen Snow (wife of Michael, Sr.); grandsons Michael Jr. (Debbie) and John (Kate); loving great-grandfather to Jonathan, Cheyenne, Chance, and Braden; loving brother of Phylis Roffo (Steve); loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.



Mr. Gairo was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He served in the US Army as a military policeman in Korea. He was employed by Firestone as their National Sales Manager of Construction and Mining Tires at their home office in Akron, OH for many years. In 1978 he joined Edwards Warren Tire Company, Firestone's largest giant tire dealer as VP of sales, Board Member, and part owner.



From 1940 when he was 11, until the time of his death, he was deeply involved in both Junior and Senior competitive Drum and Bugle Corps. Since 1948 his Senior Corps participation was with the 1954 National Champion Archer Epler Musketeer of Upper Darby, PA. Mr. Gairo is a member of the PA Drum and Bugle Hall of Fame. In addition to the Drum Corps, Mr. Gairo was an avid golfer.



Relatives and friends are invited to a Gathering Tuesday, August 11, 10:00 A.M. at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19382, immediately followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Int. private.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Archer Epler Post 979, 6736 Marshall Rd., Upper Darby, PA19082.
