John J. Gallagher Jr., loving husband, father, pop-pop and great pop-pop, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2016 at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia, Jack resided in the Fairmount Section, followed by South Philadelphia, and then Prospect Park since 1968. Son of the late John J. Gallagher Sr. and Mary E. Rowland, Jack was the oldest of 11 siblings. Jack is survived by his loving wife Nancy to whom he was married for 21 years. He was the widower of Theresa Gallagher (Kelly) and is also survived by children Carol Sadwick (Robert), John Gallagher (Maria), Greg Gallagher (deceased), Theresa Murray (John), Mark Gallagher, Maureen Addesso (William), Thomas Gallagher (Tracey), Patricia Henry (Stephen) Charles Gallagher (James), step-children Marie Larkin Gallagher, Nancy Larkin Kovach, and James (Megan) Larkin, his 2 brothers and 6 sisters, along with 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Jack served as an altar boy at St. Francis Xavier Parish and graduated from Southeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Titania which was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation for Exceptional Meritorious Service in action against enemy aircraft, mines & submarines. Jack completed a Naval Electrician Apprenticeship and later worked as a Data Processing Supervisor at the Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia for 37 years. An avid sports fan, Jack "Flash" Gallagher played semipro football for Ranson and loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, 507 American Legion and St. Madeline's Parish. Jack loved life and adored spending time with his large family. He spent summers in Wildwood, NJ and could often be heard saying "Anyone who doesn't Love this Life is crazy!" Jack loved to laugh and lived life to the fullest. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday 6-8 PM at Knoetgen/Donohue Funeral Home 746 Kedron Ave., Folsom PA and Thursday 10AM at Notre Dame Church 990 Fairview Rd., Swarthmor, PA, followed by 11AM Funeral Mass and Christian Burial at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
