John Gill passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late John T. Gill and Margaret (nee Finnegan) Gill.
John grew up in Most Blessed Sacrament parish in Southwest Philadelphia. He was a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep (’67) and Saint Joseph’s University (BA ’71, MBA ’86). John was a finance executive in the health care industry, most recently serving as the CFO of Graduate Hospital. He was a parishioner at St. Pius X in Broomall for 50 years. John served in the Army National Guard after college and was honorably discharged in 1977.
John was an avid sports fan and he especially loved the Phillies, Eagles, and St. Joe’s Hawks. Never a fan of Andy Reid, the Eagles recent Super Bowl revenge win over Kansas City was extra sweet! He has a model train collection which he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. John loved to read, especially about history and would sit for hours and concentrate on a puzzle, the more difficult the better. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed nothing more than playfully teasing his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws. He and his brother-in-law Mike Caramanico formed what they called “the Coalition” which consisted of imaginary meetings of all the members that had married into the Curtis Clan.
John is survived by “the love of his life” Mary, his wife of 51 years. He is also survived by his three children: Jennifer Angelucci (Thomas), John Gill (Anna), Theresa McFalls (Stephen), and his nine grandchildren: Sean, Kaitlin, and Thomas Angelucci; Jack, Violet, Grace, and Anna Cathryn Gill; and Fiona and Cora McFalls.
