John Hume

John Hume, born on September 22, 1950, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at Fair Acres in Media, Pennsylvania, where he had lived since 2018 and received kind, compassionate care from the staff he grew to know and appreciate.

John was predeceased by his beloved parents, Margaret and George Hume, as well as his siblings George Hume, Alice Dolan (Bob), Bernice Bergey, and Peggy Yockey (Carl), and his brother-in-law Francis McCrossin. He is survived by his devoted sister Mary McCrossin, sister-in-law Peg Hume, and many loving nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

For 30 years, John worked in housekeeping at Osteopathic Hospital, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and cheerful spirit. He had a deep love for his family and was rarely seen without a smile or the sound of his laughter nearby. His presence lit up every room he entered.

A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, John was especially dedicated to the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. His enthusiasm for the games and his teams brought joy to those around him, whether he was watching on TV or talking about the latest game. John's warmth, loyalty, and joyful nature wilt be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to John’s Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, April 28, 2025 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
