John Johnston, Sr.

John R. Johnston, Sr., age 67, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on November 13, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Vira Johnston (nee Guinan).
John was a self-employed electrician for 40 years. He retired in 2010. He was a life member of Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company and Millbourne Fire Company. He was also a member of Lansdowne Lodge 711 and Friendship Chapter 551 OES.
At Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company, he held the positions of President, Recording Secretary, Board of Director, Fire Police Captain and Lieutenant, and was the Company Chaplain. At Millbourne Fire Company, he held the position of President. As a member of the 7th & 8th District Fire Police Association, he held the positions of Recording Secretary and Chaplain. As a member of the Delaware County Fire Police Association, he held the position of Recording Secretary. He was a Life Member of the Delaware County Fireman's Association. He was Life Member of the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association and Past President. He was a State-Approved Instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.
As a member of Lansdowne Lodge 711, he was a Chaplain and Trustee. As a member of Friendship Chapter 551 OES, he was currently Worthy Patron.
John is survived by his wife, Lois M. Johnston (nee Stidham), his children Christine Johnston (Joe Walters), John R. Johnston, Jr. (Alexis), and Kathleen Johnston, his siblings Linda Hardik, William Johnston and Debra Lynn Grisafi, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Relatives, friends and all organizations where he held memberships are invited to his viewing Friday, November 21, 2014 6:00-9:00 PM with Fraternal Services at 8:00 PM and Saturday, November 22, 2014 9:00-10:00 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
