John Lieb

December 20, 1925 — September 9, 2013

John W. Lieb, age 87, of Drexel Hill, PA, formerly of Cardington-Stonehurst and Southwest Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Riverside Park, NJ, he was the son of the late Arthur and Thelma Lieb (nee Long).



John was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the World War II era. He was employed as a papercutter/folder operator for Havertown Printing for 36 years and Conners Printing Company in Aston, PA for 10 years. He retired in 2008. His job and spending time with his family were his passions.



He was a lifelong member of the Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company and also a member of the Briarcliffe American Legion Post 761. He enjoyed attending the Air Shows and watching sporting events. All who knew John loved him and will miss him dearly.



John is survived by his children Doris Rufo (Jim) of Broomall, John W. Lieb (Joan) of Drexel Hill, James A. Lieb (Patricia) of Aldan, Carol M. Myers (the late Gregory) of Perkasie, Darlene Kellar (Jim) of Collingdale, Donna Packer (Clarence) of Clifton Heights, Laurie Gallen (Noel) of Broomall, Mark Lieb of Drexel Hill, and June A. Allan, his brother Edwin E. Lieb of Claymont, DE and his sister Patricia Carroll of Springfield, and his 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Doris (nee Ward) and his son Stephen Lieb.



Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 6:30-9 PM and Friday, September 13, 2013 9:30-10:50 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.) Upper Darby followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Entombment and Naval Honors at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company, 350 Harrison Avenue, Upper Darby, PA 19082 would be appreciated.
