John “Jack” William McCann, age 84, of Morton, PA, passed away on September 11, 2021.
John was born on December 11, 1936. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Norristown, PA and attended Villanova University. He joined the Airforce for 4 years from 1957 to 1961. He married Lucy Paparella in 1962. In 1972 he and his family moved from Darby to Morton in Ridley Township, where he resided for 52 years.
Jack graduated from Philadelphia Wireless Institution and was employed by Bell of PA and then Verizon, when he retired in 1991. He worked as a bus driver for Ridley, Wallingford, and Springfield for many years.
He enjoyed officiating sports. He was an ASA & PIAA Softball Umpire and a PIAA Football Official. He was active in the Kedron Youth Association and the Amosland PTA for a long time. He helped found and was the first president of the Aquatic Swim Club in Morton.
Jack was the beloved son of John and Helen (nee Burke) McCann. He is was the loving husband of Lucy McCann; dear father of John, Michael (Mary), Patrick, Kathleen Yackin (Steve), Dennis; and beloved grandfather of Jack, Hannah, Sean, Mitchell, Maria, Luke, and Emily.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Visitation on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2130 Franklin Ave, Morton, PA 19070, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2130 Franklin Ave, Morton, PA 19070, would be greatly appreciated.
