John Raymond "Jack" McDevitt, age 89, of Havertown, PA, passed away on February 9, 2017. Born in Ardmore, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Stephanie McDevitt (nee Hyman).
John served in the United States Navy on the USS Princeton during World War II. He also served during the Korean War era. He was a life long member of Sacred Heart Church and a dedicated servant. He began his early working career with Provident Bank. Later he was employed with Haverford Township as a Zoning Inspector.
He was a member of the Laurentians and St. Kevin Senior Group.
John was predeceased by his 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amelia "Mim" McDevitt (nee Roselli), his children Stephen McDevitt, Kathy (Michael) Woodward, Michael McDevitt, Patty McDevitt and Marybeth McDevitt, grandchildren Kristen Saddler, Samantha (Ryan) Davenport, Shaina McDevitt, Danielle (Mike) Scafidi, Morgan (Justin Giannone) Woodward, Connor (Kait) Woodward, Ariana McDevitt and Austin McDevitt, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister Catherine McDevitt and many nieces and nephews.
