John J. Morton, 97, of Folsom, PA passed away on April 19, 2016. Born in Colne, England in 1918, John was the son of the late John H. and Esther (McDermott) Morton. He served honorably in the US Army during World War II in Germany, France, the Philippines and Japan. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, American Theater Service Medal, Asian-Pacific Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, WW II Victory Medal. He was a 1937 graduate of North Catholic High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania. He worked in Accounting as a Controller for the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, PA. John loved to golf. He enjoyed coaching and helped found the Delco Soccer League in 1958, where he coached and later refereed. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where he was a head usher at one time. John was an active member and former commander of the Herbert Best VFW, Post 928 in Folsom. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Curlett) Morton. John was the loving father of Bob Morton of Folsom, PA and John Morton of Phoenixville, PA.
