John O'Dell

John Dawson O'Dell, "Jack", 85, of Valley Township, PA and formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017, surrounded by family.
Born in Wellsboro, PA, in 1931, he was the son of the late Alvin and Genevieve (nee Reed) O'Dell.
Nothing brought Jack more happiness than his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was happiest in the kitchen, cooking for his family, listening to the Phillies in the background.
Jack graduated from Temple University, with a B.S. in Mathematics. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He studied German at the language school in Monterey, California, and then was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Jack accepted a sales position at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals {now Pfizer}. He enjoyed a long and successful career at Wyeth for 45 years and retired as the Senior Director of Contracting and Sales.
Jack was the beloved husband of Mary Catherine (nee Conway) O'Dell; loving father of Michael O'Dell (Kristen), Jesse O'Dell (Megan), and Julie O'Dell; devoted grandfather of Grace and Gavin O'Dell; dear brother of Donna Merrill (Howard), and Jerome O'Dell (Louise). Jack was predeceased by his son, Jeffery McKinley O'Dell, in 1982, and his siblings, Mary Turrell, Robert O'Dell (Louise), and Patricia Muessig (Robert).
Family and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 9:00 a.m at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester PA, 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by a Mass in Celebration of His Life at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380 at 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately following at St. Agnes Cemetery.
