John Samuel Tucci, Sr., age 96, of Radnor, PA, passed away on August 8, 2020. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Samuel and Antoinette (nee Carducci) Tucci.
John saw active service in World War II and landed at Utah Beach during the D-Day offensive. He fought in the Battle of The Bulge and reached Berlin, and in the process was awarded five service medals, three of which were Bronze Service Stars for battle participation.
After leaving the Army, John began his career at Triangle Publications where he celebrated over 40 years of service. He held various financial positions throughout the years and retired as Treasurer of the Corporation. During this time, John attended Wharton School in the evening and graduated with a bachelors’ degree.
John was also a devoted road runner, clocking 7 to 8 miles a day. He starting running at the age of 50 and pursued the sport for the next 30 years.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary P. (nee Hartley) Tucci; dear father of John S. Tucci, Jr., Barbara E. (Michael) Gartner, Mark R. (Sara) Tucci, Maryellen T. (Daniel) Walter and Allison T. (Dr. James) McGuckin, his grandchildren John, Amy, Lauren, Brian, Matthew, Kelsey, TJ, Benjamin and Abigail and great-grandchildren Anna, Juliette, Samuel, Addison, Tyler, Owen, Elise, Nadia, Jax and Theo. He is also survived by his sister Angela Jowett.
Due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services and interment are private for family.
