John J. “Jack” Schrems, Ph.D. age 85, of Wayne, PA, died peacefully on April 4, 2022. Born on July 8, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Schrems (nee Berghoff).
Jack retired from Villanova University in 2002. Jack enjoyed swimming, walking, reading, editing, reviewing, researching, conversing with his sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was an author of books, articles, and reviews in political science and political philosophy. He enjoyed playing the piano, playing cribbage with his children, grandchildren, and others, and never watching television.
Jack is survived by his dearest wife Mellie Tirador Schrems; father of Juanita (Mike) Henry, Josephine (Pete) Nagle, Maria (Jim) Nichols, John Schrems and George Schrems; grandfather of Michelle (Josan) Holmes, Carl, Maggie, CC, Jackie, and Laura Nagle, Jacob, Luke and Christopher Nichols, and Jonathan, Mary and Michael Schrems; great-grandfather of Elliana and Zaine Holmes. He is also survived by his siblings Sr. Kateri Schrems, O.P., Evie Hardy (the late Michael C. Hardy), Paul (Evelyn) Schrems, and Celia (Paul) Fallon. He was predeceased by his brothers Michael D. Schrems and Anthony P. Schrems.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 7-9 p.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 610-989-9600 and Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 50 W. Walker Road, Wayne, PA, and celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m., followed by a luncheon. Interment will be private.
