John R. “Bob” Steinmetz passed away peacefully on January 26th, surrounded by his family. He was a Navy veteran and served 4 years of active duty during the Korean War. Bob loved the water and all things nautical. He loved his lifeguard years on the Ocean City Beach Patrol.
He was an avid angler and loved going going fishing with his wife Kath. They were known as BobKat. Bob had a PhD in gerontology and was appointed to the President’s Council on Aging. Bob was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a gifted teacher and a talented craftsman. He was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen Steinmetz (nee Vivial) until she passed.
He is survived by his adoring children, son-in-law and daughters-in-law John R. Steinmetz. Jr. (Randi), Stephen M. Steinmetz (Colleen) and Kathleen L. Lucchesi (Larry). He is also survived by his loving grandsons Nicholas and Vincent Lucchesi.
