John passed away peacefully early Saturday morning surrounded by family.
John was born on New Years Eve, 1936, to Mary and Joseph Thorn. He was one of six children: four preceded him in death, Mary, Elizabeth, Doris, and Bill. John was a graduate of Bartram High School where he earned his letterman sweater for playing soccer.
John was a United States Army Veteran (1958-1961), where he was a Paratrooper/ Military Police, E-4, and 82nd Airborne Division.
John met and married the love of his life Terry, in 1963. They went on to have five children, John, Michael, Lisa, Michelle, and Nichole. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
General Electric and Lockheed Martin employed John for over 30 years, where he worked under Top Secret Service Clearance. He took NASA wiring courses earning him many service awards for his extensive experience in wiring re-entry vehicles and satellites.
John was an avid blood donor. He volunteered his time to Little Flower Manor Home for the elderly, Fort Mifflin, and Saint Vincent Orphanage.
John enjoyed spending time traveling with his family by car (usually in a giant station wagon) to California to visit relatives. He enjoyed visiting the landmarks and sites of the country, he so dearly loved, creating great memories with his wife and children. He also loved to dance, appearing in Band Stand in his youth. He was known to head up the annual Block Parties, where you would find him escorting his wife to the dance floor contest, dancing to his favorites by Elvis and Glenn Miller.
