John Ziegler

September 17, 1936 — August 25, 2013

John W. Ziegler, age 76, of Souderton, PA, passed away on August 25, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph B. and Isabel Ziegler (nee Johnstone). He grew up in Mt. Airy and graduated from Springfield High School.



John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Era as Military Police for two years. After serving in the Army, he relocated to Lansdale, PA John worked for Girard Bank in King of Prussia, then in North Wales for more than 20 years. From there, he went to work for Willow Grove Federal Savings and Loan in Maple Glen as a Branch Manager, then Vice President of Lending for over 30 years.



He was involved with the Lansdale Jaycees, where he held various positions and helped facilitate the Mardi Gras parade and Bicentennial celebration. He then became involved with the Horsham Rotary and Rotary International. He held various positions, including President, where he was actively involved for over 35 years. He was instrumental in the building of Everybody's Playground. He spent many years with the Horsham Chamber of Commerce and served as President.



In his retirement, he worked for Biological Specialty Corporation in Colmar, PA.



John is survived by his daughters Rebecca A. Wein (Richard) and Pamela L. Ziegler Bell, his siblings Ralph B. Ziegler, Jr. and Helen (Charles) Smith, and his grandchildren Andrew, Stephen, Joshua, Carter, Claudia, Griffin and Fraser. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Ziegler (nee Greenan), his son Gregory S. Ziegler and his grandson Justin.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Saturday, September 7, 2013 10-11 AM St. David's Episcopal Church on Cemetery Grounds, 763 S. Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087 followed by his Memorial Service at 11 AM. Interment will be private.



In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Horsham Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 99, Horsham, PA 19044 or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 225 City Avenue, Suite 104, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 would be appreciated.
