Jon F. Lebano of West Chester, PA, born on September 16, 1968, was called to eternal life on Friday, April 28, 2023 after a 33 month courageous journey of living with brain cancer. Jon passed away peacefully and comfortably surrounded by the love of his life and wife of 25 years, Heather (nee Meyer), and his treasured children Sophia, Ian, Olivia and Isabelle, and their two pups, Bonnie and Clyde.
Always a man of deep faith and compassion, Jon graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1986 and St. Joseph’s University in 1990. He then acquired his Physician Assistant Degree in 1999 from Hahnemann University. It was through his subsequent work as a P.A. and Orthopedic Trauma Rep in many hospitals and operating rooms around our city and community that Jon was able to inspire and make better the lives of those he met. His smile was contagious, his witty personality a treasure, and his positive personality a gift to many.
Jon’s greatest legacy is that of devoted husband and father. Jon and Heather met in 1989 at Merion Cricket Club where they began their relationship, then married in 1997. They were then blessed with four beautiful children, who were the light of Jon’s life. Jon always welcomed others, inviting them to break bread at their table, and find joy in their home.
Jon’s great faith and trust in God’s will enabled him to embrace the cross he was asked to carry. Accepting his diagnosis with grace, Jon never once complained about the journey he was asked to walk. His was such a positive attitude, knowing that he had the purpose of bringing others to prayer and closer to God. Jon never gave up, and is now enjoying the reward of eternal life with his God.
Jon is son to Nancy Lebano and the late Joseph Lebano, Sr.; Son-in-law to the late John and Janice Meyer; Beloved Brother to Joe (Kelly), Jason (Melissa), Christie (Sean) Snyder; Brother-in-law to Johnny and Debbie Elliott, Linda Elliott and Dave Strommer, Robyn and John Stratton, David and Bethany Meyer; uncle to many nieces and nephews and friend to so many from all corners of his life. Jon was predeceased by his grandparents Joseph and Rena Lebano and Domenico and Gemma Bucci.
Our family is incredibly grateful to the Penn Medicine Medical Team who supported Jon’s journey through this entire process: the Radiation Team, the caring and supportive infusion nurses, the hospital floor nurses who bent the rules and supported our long days and nights, the transport team, the monthly MRI staff, Bryn Mawr Rehab in-patient team, outpatient therapists, MainLine Health Homecare team and hospice team and every person who stepped into our home to care for Jon and our family on this long gritty path. We are especially thankful to and for Dr. A. Desai. Our family will be forever grateful for the way you have so beautifully cared for and supported Jon and our family through all of this.
