Jorge Rafael Perales

Jorge Rafael Perales passed away surrounded by family on December 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and a passion for continuous learning. Beloved son of the late Jorge and Sylvia (nee Gardner) Perales. He is survived by his wife, Ruana Perales; his children, Antonio and Emily; his aunt, Ruby Perry; and his cousin, Malone Perry.

Jorge have a strong educational drive for learning. He received degrees from Hofstra University, Bachelor of Arts, in Spanish, minors in Mathematics and Philosophy, 1970-1974 and Graduate Studies in Spanish Bilingualism, 1974-1976; St. John’s University, The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, M.B.A. in Finance (International Finance option)  and an Advanced Professional Certificate,  in Accounting, 1981-1984. Jorge joined Army ROTC in his grad school studies and became an Army officer in the Reserves. 

Jorge embarked on his professional journey in finance at Hewlett Packard in 1983, where he served as a Financial Analyst for 14 years before rising to the position of Senior Financial Analyst. His career progressed into Financial Application Consulting and Finance/Information Systems project management, where he demonstrated remarkable skill and commitment until the end of his professional life.

A devoted family man, Jorge found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished watching action, sci-fi, and fantasy movies, along with various TV shows and documentaries. His inquisitive nature led him to enjoy learning new facts, often evident in his fondness for watching "Jeopardy." He maintained a keen interest in current events and was particularly fascinated by technology trends, devoting time to cloud computing and even leading classes in this field.

Jorge was not only a supportive husband but also a deeply engaged father. He relished attending his daughter Emily's band concerts and music events, engaging with her in meaningful conversations, and sharing interesting facts. His son found in him a reliable source of encouragement, wisdom, and guidance. Friends and family will remember him as a patient listener and a knowledgeable teacher, capable of explaining complex topics with clarity and kindness.

Outside of his professional life, Jorge had a multitude of hobbies and interests that enriched his experiences. He enjoyed playing the guitar and trumpet, studying languages including Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese, and practicing martial arts disciplines such as Taekwondo, Jeet Kune Do, Aikido, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He had a passion for traveling and scuba diving, always eager to explore new places and cultures. Additionally, he took pride in maintaining a five-year streak on Duo Lingo, which further showcased his love for learning.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, remembered for his relentless work ethic, his love for family, and the profound positive impact he had on those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Family and friends are invited to Jorge's viewing on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by words of remembrance at 11:00 AM. Interment at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, PA.
