Joseph Michael Catov, 92, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania passed peacefully into eternal life with his beloved, Millie, at his side on November 3, 2023. The youngest of eight children, Joe was born to Joseph and Mary Catov in Rahway, New Jersey. He enjoyed a rich childhood as he learned to work with his hands and learned a strong work ethic.
He attended St. Benedicts Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey and Villanova University, graduating in 1952. In Villanova’s chapel, just four days later, Joe married the love of his life, Millie Tuzio. Following two years of military service at Fort Hood, Texas, they settled in Pennsylvania where they raised four children. They loved sailing the Barnegat Bay, traveling the country in their RV and attending Villanova football games.
Joe became a highly respected figure and mentor to many in the architectural and structural metal industry. He worked well into his eighties. He was a friend to all who met him and treated everyone with kindness, respect and compassion, no matter one’s station in life.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Millie, his children, Joe (Patti) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Deb (Victor) of Manahawkin, New Jersey, Karen (the late Gary) of Monument, Colorado, and Beth (Anthony) of Nottingham, Pennsylvania; his five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are forever grateful for having Joe in our lives as long as we did. We will cherish every story he told us, every piece of wisdom he imparted and every time he corrected our grammar.
Fair winds and following seas, sailor. It was a joy to share the voyage.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Joseph’s name to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA. 19342. To be notified of a future celebration of Joe’s life, please email
