Joseph Donovan

December 11, 1942 — November 23, 2014

Joseph W. Donovan, age 71, of Berwyn, PA, formerly of Wynnewood, PA and Washington, DC, passed away on November 23, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Marguerite Donovan (nee Casey).



Joseph received his Bachelor's Degree in English from LaSalle University, and his Master's Degree in English from Niagara University. He was an English Professor at Immaculata College and taught Mass Media at Strayer College, both located in Washington, DC. It was at Strayer College that he made a career change to Communications professional, a field in which he would work for the remainder of his career. Upon returning to the Philadelphia area in 1985, he worked at Jefferson University in the College of Allied Health Professions. In 2000, he returned to his alma mater, LaSalle University as Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations.



Mr. Donovan was a Past President and member of CUPRAP, a member of the Margaret Roper Forum and a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Washington, DC.

He enjoyed cooking, wine, music, was an avid reader of current events, literature and poetry.

Joseph was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Jo Donovan (nee McGinnis). He is survived by his wife Dr. Joanne Gillis Donovan, his children David Donovan (Jean), Michael Donovan (Stacy-Ann) and Brian Donovan, his grandchildren Rachel Donovan, Rebecca Snyder and Patrick Donovan, his great-granddaughter Violet Walter and his sister Anne Fusco (Philip).



Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, November 28, 2014 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday, November 29, 2014 9:15-10:15 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA (610) 989-9600 and to his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
