Joseph T. Levy, Jr. ("Mr. Wonderful")
53, passed away suddenly in an accident on Monday, September 26 at his home in Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania.
Born in September 1963, Joe was the second son born to the late Bernie (nee Gibbons) and Joseph T. Levy, Sr. and was the youngest of the family.
He is survived by his sisters Donna, Marianne (Mark) Hellerman, and Winnie (Jeff) Engelbrecht, his brother John (Marietta Hanigan) Levy, and many nieces and nephews. Joe grew up in West Chester and graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School.
Joe worked as a bus driver for SEPTA where he was known for his safe-driving record, his ability to greet and chit chat with passengers in multiple languages, including Mandarin Chinese, and his unfailing courtesy. He received multiple commendations from SEPTA for his service and many passengers just called him "Mr. Wonderful." A prior injury and many years at the wheel of the bus left him with severe and disabling leg problems that forced him to retire. He visited New York City and Philadelphia regularly, always stopping in Chinatown in both cities to say "Nǐ hǎo!" to friends. He loved deep sea fishing, visiting the Jersey shore and cooking.
