Joseph Francis "Joe" McGowan Jr.

Joseph Francis “Joe” McGowan, Jr., age 70, of Newtown Square, PA passed away on January 21, 2025.

 Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis Sr. and Joan Veronica (née Morris) McGowan.

Joe met the love of his life, Helen (Donohoe) McGowan, their senior year of high school and had been married just shy of 45 years. Joe will be known for his strong will, remarkable knowledge, and love for his family. Joe enjoyed many hobbies including boating, working on cars, and golfing. Boating and cars were eventually replaced with spending time with his grandchildren. He found his greatest joy in his wife, children, and grandchildren who were the center of his world. His presence will be missed, but his love will remain in our hearts forever.

Joe was the beloved husband of Helen McGowan; the loving father of Christine St. John (Andrew), Joseph Francis Thomas McGowan, III, and Moira Gregg (Thomas). He was the proud grandfather of Harrison St. John, Savannah St. John, Quinn Gregg, and Lochlann Gregg. Joe is also survived by his brother, Leo McGowan, and predeceased by his sister, Lizanne Ulmer.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Joe’s life at his Visitation, Saturday, January 25, 2025, 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by his Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
