Joseph Matthew "Joe" Morgal, passed away peacefully at his home with his daughter and grandson at his side. He fought a hard battle with prostate cancer, but he never gave up.

Joe was always quick with a joke and loved doing impressions. He loved making people laugh and always lit up a room. He was a retired Philadelphia Police Officer. He was also a Navy veteran who proudly served his country.

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was adopted as an infant to Bill and Mary Morgal. He grew up in Riverside, NJ (which he was extremely proud of) and moved to Philadelphia, where he met the love of his life, Gerri, on June 23, 1974.

After retiring from the Police Department, Joe worked at Citizens Bank Park for the Philadelphia Phillies, a job which he absolutely loved. He loved movies and music, especially Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Billy Joel, and Fleetwood Mac, among others. A fan of standup comedy, he adored George Carlin. He was an avid sports fan of his favorite teams, The Oakland A's, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, and the Sixers, as well at Notre Dame. He loved his Budweiser beer and also his favorite shows, Two and a Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld, and his all-time favorite, MASH. Joe was also a member of the FOP Lodge #005 and the Elks Lodge in Wildwood, NJ, where he and his family loved to vacation for many years.

Joe was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine E. Morgal (nee Richmond) and his parents, William and Mary Morgal. He is survived by his daughter, Kelle Thomas, and his grandson, Joseph Thomas. Joe was the best husband, father, and Popi that anyone could ask for. His wife, daughter, and grandson were his entire world. Joe will be missed very much, but will forever be in all our hearts.

Cremation is taking place and a Graveside Service will be announced at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105, stjude.org, would be appreciated.
