"Joseph W. O'Brien, age 84, of Newtown Square, Pa, passed away on June 6th, 2018.
He suffered multiple strokes over the past five years, that made life increasingly challenging for him.
While in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation centers over recent years, he spent most of his time being cared for at home, where he was happiest, surrounded by the routine of daily life and loved ones.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the loving son of the late William and Eleanor (nee Duffy) O'Brien.
Joseph was a graduate of St. Thomas Moore High School and attended Temple University.
Joseph honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
His professional career, as a sales engineer and business owner, spanned more than 50 years.
He was passionate about working, enjoyed serving his customers and had a great entrepreneurial spirit.
He was forced to stop working by his failing physical condition in his late seventies, but would have worked to the end if he had a choice.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Angelina (nee Fichera) O'Brien; His two children, Robert J. O'Brien and Catherine (nee O'Brien) Bailey and her husband John Bailey; His grand-children Lauren, Joseph, Angela, and Robert O'Brien, and Jack Bailey; And, his adopted children, Ashley, Amanda, and Alycia Phillips.
He was a loving man who enjoyed taking care of his family, boating with his son, and visiting Ocean City, New Jersey for summer vacations with his extended family.
Joseph is predeceased by his siblings, Jean Bell, Nancy Murphy and Donald O'Brien.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Tuesday, June 12th 2018, 10:00-10:50 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
The service will be followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM and interment at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield."
