Joseph "Joe" A. Pino, 80, originally of South Philadelphia, died suddenly on 11/30/13 at home in West Chester, PA. He was born on February 1, 1933 to the late Rosalie and late Anthony Pino, Sr.
Joe was a retired lumber dealer of 10th St. Lumber in South Philadelphia. He attended South Philadelphia High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Temple University's Business School while raising a family and working full time. An avid musician from 12 years old, he played the alto and tenor sax, the clarinet, and later in life, the flute. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 3rd Army Military Band. During his married life, Joe Pino & the Knights played music throughout Southeastern PA and South Jersey. He played back up for a number of celebrities during the 50's & 60's. In retirement, Joe was a member of several bands including the DeLaSalle Band, R.S.V.P. Volunteer Band, Wilmington String Band and the Marple-Newtown Community Band.
Joe loved to visit the Jersey Shore and travel the world with his wife, Louise, and family. He enjoyed riding the highest roller coasters, helicopter, glider, and hot air balloon rides. Joe embraced life at every opportunity and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife Louise (nee Schnabel), his children Rosemarie Marovich (Michael), Joseph S. Pino (Gina), Jeffrey Pino, and Stephen A. Pino, his grandchildren Lindsey Rauch (Andrew), Veronica Watkins, Alexis Pino ,Stephen Pino, Amber Pino, Nicole Louise Pino, his great-grandson Tyler Matthew Rauch, and his brothers John Pino (Loretta) and Anthony Pino (Natalie). He was predeceased by his grandson Anthony Pino.
