Joseph Donald Plotner, Sr., "Poppy", 96, of Swarthmore, passed away on April 20, 2017. Born in Coatesville, PA he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Elsie Mildred (nee Widener) Plotner. Joseph worked in the insurance industry for many years. He was also a WWII Navy veteran and was active in the VFW Post 5428. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Anna Marie "Nancy" (nee Ryan), devoted father of Carol Anne Romansky and Joseph D. Plotner, Jr. Devoted grandfather of Lauren, Natalie, Donnie, Christopher and great grandfather of Scarlett, Ashley, Vance, Joey and Beau. Predeceased by his children Jeanne Marie Plotner and Kenneth Plotner and his sisters Grace Bensen, Doris Garner and Shirley Baird. Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who very much looked forward to family outings while celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. As a patriotic and generous catholic man, he liked taking on new challenges and giving his time to others. Joseph was a sports enthusiast for all sporting events, both professional & local. In his spare time he enjoyed reading the local newspaper, doing crossword puzzles, dancing and travelling with Our Ladies' seniors at his church. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, April 26, 2017 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Avenue, Morton, PA 19070 610-544-0600 followed by his Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 27, 2017, 10:30 AM at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 990 Fairview Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
