Joseph A. Smith

Joseph A. Smith of Newtown Square passed away suddenly at the age of 58 on November 7, 2024.

Joe was born in 1966 in Newtown Square, PA to Thomas B. Smith Jr. and the late Janet A. Smith (Gilbert).

Joe spent many years working as an electrician for Local 98. He was currently employed at PECO Energy, where he was known as a mentor and dear friend to so many.

Joe loved anything to do with the outdoors. Whether it was hunting, hiking, camping, or just splitting wood in his backyard with a cold Coors light in hand, you could be sure to find him doing it with a smile. Joe also had a huge love for cars and even started his own little collection. He loved traveling to Florida in his camper to visit his daughter and grandchildren. Weekends in Wildwood and Lake Wallenpaupack were always a must in the summertime.

Joe was an extremely kind and generous man, who could always see the good in any situation. He loved his family unconditionally. He was always willing to help anyone in need; no matter if you met him once or knew him for years. He was a man of faith, family and country.

Joe was predeceased by his mother Janet A. Smith (Gilbert) and sister Clair Marie Smith. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Smith (Meoli), father Thomas B. Smith Jr., three children; Nicole LeBlanc (Thomas), Gina Smith, Stephen D’Agostino (Lauren), four stepdaughters; Janelle Hevener (Bobby), Amanda Joslin (Michael), Juline Calhoun (Chris), Frankie Korkus, brother Francis Smith (Sue), three sisters Anne Frederick (Howard), Mary Smith (John), Margaret Smith (Tony), five grandchildren; Olivia, Bodhi, Cooper, Alice and Harper, 13 nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at his Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2024 and 9:00-10:30 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
