Joseph Sweeney

Joseph F. X. Sweeney, age 94, of Devon, PA, formerly of the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on April 21, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Susanne Sweeney (nee Curran).
He was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 41 years and retired in 1986 at General Foreman.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen Sweeney (nee Magliocco). He is survived by his loving children Joseph Sweeney (Joan), Michael Sweeney (the late Sandy) and Kathleen Sweeney, his 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sisters Dollie Edenfield, Susan Duld and Eileen Dougherty.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, April 26, 2016 10:00-11:00 AM St. Denis Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
