Josephine M. Hennigan

Josephine M. Hennigan “Gram” gained her angel wings on October 18, 2023 at her home in West Chester, PA. She was 84 years old.  Born in Philadelphia to Thomas and Josephine (Kelly) McBride, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Thomas McBride, Elizabeth Gavin and Patricia Keir. She married the love of her life, Jeremiah E. Hennigan, in 1957 and they spent 52 beautiful years of marriage together before his passing in 2009. She is survived by their two children Michael (Christie) Hennigan and Joanne (Nick) Verna. Josephine was the ultimate care giver. She took care of her husband, mother, brother, sister, and after her sister’s passing, she shared her love with two special nephews, William and Warren (Cathy) Keir. 

Josephine loved spending time with her family and was proud to be a grandmother to Nicholas (Kristen) Verna, Danielle (Mike) Campbell, Lauren Hennigan, Michael Hennigan, Kayla (Kevin) Clark, Dana Keir, Samantha Keir and Ashleigh Keir. She loved being a Great Gram to Nate Verna (3 years), Cassie Verna (10 months), and Daniel Clark (9 months). Also very special to the family are Nick Parente, Erika Markey, and Brad Preis. There are countless friends, family, and acquaintances who knew and loved her as “Gram”. 

She was the happiest when anyone came into her home and she could show her love through food, beer, and good conversation. No one ever left her house hungry and many problems were solved at the kitchen table. 

A celebration of life will be held at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church on Thursday October 26th, 2023. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00 am, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
