Josephine M. (Jody) Marchesani (nee Caiazzo), age 74, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2014. Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Antoinette Caiazzo (nee Corrado) of Philadelphia and originally from Cicciano, Italy. Josephine retired following a career as a Direct Marketing Executive in the insurance and banking industries.
Raised in Philadelphia, Josephine attended St. Richard Elementary School and was a 1957 honors graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School.. She was a percussionist in the Philadelphia All Girls Orchestra and the drummer in the all-girl rock-and-roll band "The Femaires." Josephine was devoted to music her entire life and she was particularly proud to have attended American Bandstand shows when the program was broadcast live from Philadelphia.
Josephine's professional career included roles as a legal secretary for Pennwalt Corporation in the firm's patent division; legal secretary for her brother, Anthony J. Caiazzo, Esq.; typist for a court stenographer; direct marketing executive for National Liberty Corporation, AIG Insurance and First USA Bank, and a residential real estate agent for Prudential Fox and Roach Real Estate.
She had been an active member of Toastmasters International and served as District 38 Governor from 1982-83.
Josephine is survived by her children Robert F. Marchesani, Jr. (Marlene), Michael J. Marchesani and Stephanie A. Marchesani (Robert J. Fox) and her grandchildren Allison, Andrew, Matthew, Jack, Juliet, Alexander and Michael.
Besides her lifelong love of music, Josephine was passionate about a number of hobbies and activities including bowling, playing cards, following Philadelphia's sports teams, traveling, gardening, completing puzzles of all types, reading and, most of all, being a grandmother.
There will be a celebration of Josephine's life on Sunday, August 3, starting with visitation at 2 p.m. followed by the life celebration at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Road, Thornton, PA 19373. www.bethmeth.com
